THIS MONTH:  Have a nagging question or issue that's bothering you about your diabetes? Bring your issues and questions and get answers and support from the group.

Pre-Meeting Dinner (Souplantation): Several of us get together about 5:30 before each meeting for dinner, and all are welcome!  Anyone who would like a bite of dinner before the meeting can join us this month at the Souplantation Restaurant in Kearny Mesa, 7095 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard (just east of 805), 858-715-6824.  Please be ready to leave the restaurant by 6:45 and proceed to Sharp so that our speakers and non-dining members are not delayed.

* Voucher can be used for a FREE pack of 180-count Afrezza:

            - 90 4 units / 90 8 units

            - 60 4 units / 60 8 units / 60 12 units

* Voucher can be redeemed at any pharmacy with a valid US Rx.

* Nate has the vouchers and can meet with you or can apply the voucher to your

     order once you have a valid Rx.

* Once the 180-count pack is used, you can use your insurance to get approved

     for a new supply of 180.

            - Cost for commercial patient is $15

            - Medicare is ~$100-$150

            - Medi-Cal is $0

            - Kaiser will not approve payment but might still write an Rx for you

MEETING TIME:  Monday, June 12th, 7:00-8:30pm
LOCATION:  Sharp Medical Facility

THIS MONTH:  Have a nagging question or issue that's bothering you about your diabetes? Bring your issues and questions and get answers and support from the group.

LAST MONTH: The meeting was a lively discussion on APPs that help with blood sugar management. Issues with low thyroid and BG control were discussed. Using extended boluses and using and setting basil rates was also brought up. Travel tips rounded out the evening's discussion.

MEETING TIME:  Monday, May 8th, 7:00-8:30pm
LOCATION:  Sharp Medical Facility

THIS MONTH:  Bring your issues and questions and get answers and support from the group.

LAST MONTH:  The meeting was a lively discussion on our favorite foods to raise low Blood Sugars. Most of the group preferred a food item versus glucose tablets. Some of the favorite food items are regular Coke, OJ or Kerns juice, granola or power bars and a variety of candy from jelly beans, tootsie roll midgets, and Hot Tamales.

Glucose tabs are available at most drugstores and even at the Target pharmacy for a low price of $3.99 a bottle.  For those of you that like the Glucolift tablets and thought they were out of business, we have good news. They are still making their tasty glucose tablets and selling directly to the public on their website glucolift.com.

THIS MONTH:  Learn the Ins and Outs of Afrezza, the only inhaled insulin, from Afrezza Rep Nick Boman.

LAST MONTH:  We had a lively open discussion at the February meeting. Some of the topics discussed were using CGM Apps, differences in insulins, the high cost of insulin, and the importance of keeping a record of our pump settings.
