LAST MONTH: Several questions were brought up about Afrezza and how to adjust your insulin dose when your blood sugars are high but your normal correction factor isn't enough.

THIS MONTH: Open Discussion. Bring your questions, diabetes concerns, and successes to share with the group.

LAST MONTH: Chloe Diez, the Afrezza Rep, discussed ways to use inhaled insulin as an adjunct to pumped insulin, either in the event a prebolus is inconvenient or for safer and faster corrections for better time-in-range. Chloe told us they have a $15 copay card now for people on ‘commercial insurance’— i.e., not Medicare.

Tom’s Two-Minute Tip was an introduction to Dexcom’s Clarity tools. He talked about compatibility with G4, G5, and G6, then teased the types of information available in the various reports. In future meetings, Tom will circle back to one report at a time, finding the unique actionable information in each.

LAST MONTH: OPEN DISCUSSION Fourteen pumpers with 500 years of diabetes experience among us attended the meeting. Tom Fitzpatrick gave an amazing 2-minute Dexcom G6 Sensor tip on how to set up Siri on your Apple devices to speak your Blood Sugar. Tom will present a helpful 2-minute tip on Dexcom each month. For Android users, Samsung now has a watch that partners with Dexcom.

LAST MONTH: Dr. Hsieh (pronounced Shay) from UCSD Men's Health Clinic presented a comprehensive program on the five levels of ED treatments. Go to the USCD Clinic's link for more information:

Dr. Hsieh's approach to ED is to treat the entire individual. His clinic accepts all forms of insurance and Dr. Hsieh also sees patients at the VA in La Jolla.

THIS MONTH: Dr. Mike Hsieh, Urologist, will discuss Men’s Health
MEETING TIME:  Monday April 8th, 7:00-8:30pm

THIS MONTH:  Dr. Hsieh and Jose Luis PA From UC-San Diego Health will go over all treatment options for ED. This meeting is open to anyone interested in the topic.

LAST MONTH: Chad Lee from Omnipod showed the new DASH Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM) for the Omnipod pump. The new DASH PDM uses Bluetooth and is the first step to an Omnipod closed loop pump. Its compatibility with other systems (such as Dexcom) simplifies the tracking and recording of data. The DASH PDM is available to all current users at no charge just by calling customer service. You do not need to be out of warranty to upgrade to the new DASH PDM.  You can now share your BGs with up to 12 people on the share app.

Depending on your insurance, the Omnipod system (PDM and pods) can be ordered through your pharmacy benefit.  Contact Chad Lee with any questions.
