All pumpers, companions, and friends welcome!

Don't Miss the NOVEMBER meeting of the San Diego Insulin Pumpers!!!

THIS MONTH: Brian Rosko, Senseonics Business Manager
MEETING TIME:  Monday November 12th, 7:00-8:30pm
LOCATION:  Sharp Medical Facility
8695 Spectrum Centre Blvd, Room 186

THIS MONTH: Brian Rosko, the Senseonics Business Manager, will present the new implantable Eversense sensor. This new CGM device has a life span of up to 3 months. Plan to attend and learn about this exciting new technology.

LAST MONTH: Veronica Lode, the San Diego Tandem Pump Territory Representative, presented the new Basal IQ/Predictive Low Glucose Suspend software for use with the Dexcom G6 sensor. Some insurance companies require a prescription from your doctor to receive this software. Go to the website tandemdiabetes.com/x2update for more information.

As of the October meeting, Medicare was not approving the G6 until Dexcom can increase manufacturing capacity to meet the demand.

Veronica also told us about the Tandem T Sport patch pump they expect to launch in 2020. This small pump will give pumpers another pump option. For any questions, contact Veronica.

Pre-Meeting Dinner (Souplantation): Several of us get together about 5:30 pm before each meeting for dinner, and all are welcome! Anyone who would like a bite of dinner before the meeting can join us at the Souplantation Restaurant in Kearny Mesa, 7095 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard (just east of 805), 858-715-6824.

Please be ready to leave the restaurant by 6:45 and proceed to Sharp so that our speakers and non-dining members are not delayed.

As always, significant others and any friends and family supporters are always welcome at the meeting.  Our meetings are held the 2nd Monday of every month.

STAND UP FOR AFFORDABLE INSULIN

An Initiative from the American Diabetes Association

Friend,

A little over a year ago, we launched an initiative to help make insulin affordable. Since then, more than 273,370 people have signed on to this important campaign. And this was just the beginning…

We met with leaders in Congress, provided information to people who need help with insulin costs now, delivered the first round of the petition to Congress, and told our stories in every corner of the nation.

We also convened a working group of people with diabetes and other experts to examine why insulin has become so expensive for so many and have held discussions with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the insulin supply chain Now we are working to develop viable long-term solutions that will make insulin affordable for all who need it.

Here's how you can help keep the momentum going:

If you haven't already done so, join us by signing the petition at

https://makeinsulinaffordable.org/petition/

Share the petition with your friends, family, neighbors—EVERYONE—on social media, by email, and in person. Tell the people in your life why insulin affordability matters to you.

How long will we continue fighting for insulin affordability?

- Until no person is forced to choose between insulin and groceries or a utility bill.

- Until no parent wakes up worrying if they can afford the insulin their child needs that day—and every day that follows.

- Until no grandparent worries about losing a limb because they had to ration insulin.

We have a difficult road ahead, but we will work together until no person lacks the insulin they need. There are millions who rely on insulin to live every day, and we want as many as possible to join our campaign.

Please be sure to sign the petition and encourage everyone you know to sign the petition, too.

Thank you for your support!

William T. Cefalu, MD
Chief Scientific, Medical & Mission Officer
American Diabetes Association

Pre-Meeting Dinner (Souplantation): Several of us get together about 5:30 before each meeting for dinner, and all are welcome!
